AKF seeks to provide evidence on the most effective interventions that will promote improved health outcomes of resource poor and under served communities in sub-Saharan Africa. Our key focus areas in health include Water and Sanitation, sexual and reproductive health, Maternal and Child Health, HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Nutrition as well as health education for the Most at Risk and Hard to Reach Populations in the region.
AKF envisions contributing to the provision of Education for all, the second millennium development goal through conducting evidence based research. Our key focus areas in Education include Primary education, secondary education and Business, Technical and Vocational Education Training (BTVET) programmatic interventions.
Agriculture is the mainstay for most underserved and therefore vulnerable communities in Africa, yet agricultural practices undertaken in these communities are unsustainable rendering communities to food insecurity and consequences of environmental degradation. AKF plans to address these challenges through undertaking and disseminating evidence based practices in improved farming methods, food security and sustainable livelihoods.
